The Model 500 Phone is a classic American telephone, becoming the most extensively-produced telephone model in telephone history. Western Electric, based in New York, was the manufacturing arm of AT&T over a long period from 1881 to 1995. The "500" phone first appeared in 1949 and updated over time, incorporating new materials and taking advantage of new production processes, however the classic shape remained. Beginning in the early 1950s, 500 phones were also made by ITT Kellogg (now Cortelco), and Stromberg-Carlson (now part of Siemens). The telephones shown on this page are very good reproductions of the original versions. This working telephone has today's technology and a functioning rotary dial, with last number re-dial. We fit each telephone ordered with a plug that is compatible with the telephone system in the country to which the telephone is being sent. All telephones have a 12 month guarantee. What's more, because the phones use Tone Dialing, they will work with (eg. banking) services such as "press 1 for ..." etc. With a weight of 1.2 Kg, the phone is very stable, and won't slip across the table when dialing.
