Why are Laguiole's so special?
The Laguiole, pronounced "la-yoll", denotes
high-quality traditional French pocket-knives, originally
produced in the town of Laguiole in the Aveyron region
in the south of France. The name "Laguiole" relates not
only to the distinctive style, but also the high quality
of the materials used, and the quality of manufacture.
The name does not belong to one manufacturer, and sometimes
the name Laguiole is put onto inferior products that have
come from outside this region. 70% of the best production
comes from Thiers, a long-established centre of the cutlery

business in their 6th generation, who have been manufacturing
