Not all rabbit hutches & Guineapig hutches are
the same. The range and quality of hutches generally available
in pet shops and garden centres are often quite disappointing,
so we were very pleased to find this range of hutches that really
do represent good build quality and value for money. In fact,
these hutches are so good, each one comes with a lifetime guarantee,
covering the life of your pet. All these hutches are British-made
with timber from renewable resources from Buying a hutch is one
of the most important starting points for your new pet. This will
be its home for the majority of its life so it is vital to get
a sturdy, high quality large hutch that will provide a comfortable,
spacious home. The hutch should be at least four times the length
of your pet when lying down and it should be high enough to allow
them to stand on their hind legs without touching the ceiling.
It should also have a living area and separate sleeping compartment
for warmth and privacy. These animals are also very active and
enjoy running around so should have a large run attached to the
hutch as a play and foraging area. Pet House hutches are perfect
for providing all the above and will ensure a happy environment
to spend time in. |

Keeping
a Rabbit or Guinea Pig - taking on a new pet, regardless
of species, is a big commitment; rabbits and guinea pigs need
the same amount of love, attention, care and husbandry to make
their lives happy and enjoyable. There are many important aspects
of care you need to consider to help you to avoid all the pitfalls.
Choosing the Right Pet for You
- Rabbits and guinea pigs make perfect pets for all age groups
from young children to adults and are thoroughly amusing and affectionate
creatures. Rabbits are sociable and will live in pairs however
you should have them neutered to prevent breeding or aggressive
behaviour later in life. Guinea pigs are also sociable and females
will live happily in pairs. Males will too but may fight in the
vicinity of a female and mixed pairs may result in unwanted babies.
Rabbits can also be kept as house pets living freely in the home,
which they find very rewarding and will provide hours of fun affection
and company. Rabbits and guinea pigs can live for a number of
years if cared for properly so remember your commitment too them
is for a long time and will ensure a happy healthy life. Caring
for your New Hutch - having purchased the perfect home
it important to keep it that way to ensure it lasts a long time.
Firstly place it in a sheltered area of the garden to prevent
damage from the weather. Always line the inside of your pets home
with a thick layer of newspaper, this is absorbent and also helps
keep the hutch warm. Next cover with woodshavings, in the bedroom
section fill with a high quality straw to create a warm and inviting
area for privacy. Rabbits tend to toilet in the same place every
time so placing a litter tray filled with shavings will allow
them their own area at the same time as keeping the hutch dry
ensuring it lasts longer. It also makes cleaning out very easy
as you can just clean the litter tray daily and the whole hutch
once a week. When cleaning out use a good disinfectant spray suitable
for small furries, this helps prevent disease and odour build
up. Creating the Right Environment
- a hutch can be very dull and boring if left bare, imagine your
bedroom with nothing other than a bed. Try to place things in
their cage and run that they can play will like clay pipes and
large plant pots on their side to give them additional places
to hide and rest. Place logs of wood to gnaw and help keeping
their teeth in trim. There are hundreds of accessories for rabbits
and guinea pigs so buy a good selection to furnish their home
and prevent boredom. Providing the Right
Food - rabbits and guinea pigs are foragers and need
to eat large amounts of fibre to prevent health problems such
as loose droppings and overgrown teeth. Provide large amounts
of high quality, dust free hay or dried grass every day. Also
they can eat a good quality rabbit diet in small quantities in
a heavy bowl that can't be tipped over. This will provide variety
and encourage foraging however should only be given in small amounts
every day. Fresh vegetables and herbs can also be given and always
ensure they have access to fresh water in a bottle at all times.
If you follow all these steps you will have a happy and safe environment
for you pet.
