Ultima Action Station Play Centre
Do you remember playing on a climbing
frame when you were a child? We all know that climbing
frames provided endless hours of fun, and our latest play
centre products really do represent great value for money
for parents who want to buy their children something quite
special. We have spent a long time reviewing many different
climbing frames from numerous manufacturers and our Ultima
Plus Action Stations climbing frame is certainly one of
the clear winners, representing a new revolution in outdoor
play equipment, combining the structural soundness, longevity
and useability of metal play systems with the ability
to blend well into the garden that is often sought in
traditional wooden climing frames. Also, our Action Stations
climbing frames are designed and engineered by Super Tramp,
a very reputable UK manufacturer of Garden Play Equipment
(they also, incidentally, produce the best outdoor trampolines),
meaning that spare parts and additional accessories will
be easily available, even in years to come.
Because the lower platform is separate from the ladder
and slide, it creates a natural space which children are
able to use as an area for less active play. With two
large free draining split level soft platforms, a large
domed canopy tent and fabric wall panels, the Ultima Plus
Action Station provides a huge range of fun activities..
The climbing frame "wave" slide in green is 3m long, and
is made from durable plastic, with 5mm thick walls. The
slide is raised at the end so that children land on their
feet, not on their bottoms!
The Ultima Plus Action Station range is an all weather
product. Key to this is the use of free draining platforms
made from a soft woven fabric mesh. This allows the platforms
to dry quickly after rainfall and allows uninterrupted
play regardless of the month or season.
- Complies with the latest Toy Safety Standard EN71
Part 8.
- 3m (10’1”) wide x 4.2m (13’9”) deep x 2.7m (8'10”)

- Net bridge gives a safe and intriguing route up
to the platforms.
- All uprights have adjustable feet which also provide

Why
buy a Climbing Frame? Actions Stations climbing frames
provide opportunities for climbing, hiding sliding, monkey
swinging, childrens games and lounging. These activities
are enormous fun for children but underpinning this is
the development of a diverse set of skills including coordination,
spatial perception, risk calculation, problem solving,
observation, self-confidence, concentration and creativity
that are crucial to growing children.
Why buy Action Stations climbing frame? - Designed
and engineered to be the Ultima Pluste play system, the
Action Stations range is built using a combination of
aluminium extrusion and reinforced injection moulded clamps.
These have been created specifically for this range to
provide strength, durability and ease of assembly. The
architectural grade aluminium tubing is die-extruded to
Super Tramp's own specification,; unlike steel tubing
it will never rust and its low weight makes delivery and
assembly considerably easier. All fabrics, nets and webbing
used on our Action Stations climbing frame range are UV-Stabilised,
tough and durable - a combination of texture and colour
that blends very well into your garden.
Advantage over Wooden climbing frames ? - Generally,
wooden climbing frames look more natural than traditional
steel climbing frames, which are often designed to stand-out
as much as possible. In contrast to traditional steel
frames, our Action Stations are designed specifically
to blend naturally into your garden. This softer effect
is achieved through a careful selection of materials (rust-free
aluminuim tubes, stainless steel fixings and moulded glassfibre
reinfoced clamps is a million miles away from "iron scaffolding"),
and soft, natural colours. Unlike wooden climbing frames,
our Action Stations range won't crack or require regular
treatment with wood preservative - neither the aluminium
tubing, glassfibre reinforced clamps, stanless steel fixings,
nor tough UV-stabilised fabrics are affected by the weather
- that means very low maintenance, no rust, and no worrying
about gaping cracks, fissures and surface mould that are
a feature of wooden climbing frames (which are almost
always made from unseasoned unseasoned newly-cut timber).
Another advantage over wooden climbing frames is spare-part
availablity - is your wooden climbing frames supplier
really going to stock the entire complex collection of
wooden components 10 years into the future? Owing to the
simplicity and durability of the Action Stations components,
and the fact that the manufacturer is a well-established
UK company, it is easier to have confidence in long-term
manufacturer support. Another advantage over Wooden climbing
frames is that the children can grip/hang etc from every
aluminium strut anywhere on the climbing frame. If you
look carefully at a wooden climbing frame, ask yourself
how many places can you see where a child can climb or
grip - you will probably see that the inferior strength
of wood means that many components have to be made "extra-thick"
to provide adequate strength, resulting more restricted
play. Finally, delivery is more simple - No large lorry
turning up with a driver asking you to help him carry
large unpacked wooden beams into your front garden.
Assembly
- Unlike other systems we have reviewed, the Action Stations
range really is easy to assemble and maintain. Each Action
Stations climbing frame has its own set of instructions,
laying out a clear and simple assembly process, with large
diagrams (a good picture paints a thousand words!). Each
clamp is moulded with an integral name and simple reference
number for easy identification. The aluminium tubes are
all pre-cut and pre-drilled and each one is individually
named and numbered. Also, to ensure the product arrives
in perfect condition, all tubes are individually wrapped
in a protective coating, and all clamps are packed separately.
All structural fixings use the same type of "hex-head"
bolt and nut combination, helping to avoid any confusion
in assembly. The clamps are designed to hold the fixing-nut
in place, so all you need to do is insert the bolt, and
tighten it using the supplied allen-key.
