buildings etc. A Solar Mate kit is quick and easy to install,
requiring no special tools and can be operating within an
hour. Part P of the new building Regulations introduced
in the UK in January 2005 require any outdoor electrical
work to be completed by a qualified electrician but the
SolarMate I kit can be installed easily by the DIYer without
the need to comply with these regulations or expensive excavations.
The kit comprises a high power solar panel which is suitable
for UK weather conditions and all the necessary fixings
and cables to be up and running. Just add a car or caravan

Solar Mate 1 Solar Lighting Kit

Solar Mate I - ideal for
smaller buildings such as the average garden shed, summer
house or single stable and will provide light for up to
seven hours per 24hour period. Its single 12volt, energy
saving bulb is equivalent to a 40watt household light
bulb, sufficient to illuminate an area of 16 sq metres.
Solar Mate addresses the problem of illuminating remote
areas where no mains power exists. Solar Mate's solar
panel will collect enough energy during the course of
the day (even in Britain) to power its bulb for between
5 and 7 hours every day of the year (5 hours in the winter
- 7 hours for the rest for the year). Solar Mate has a
10 year warranty so will easily pay back its investment
many times. Solar Mate I will illuminate a 16 square meter
area.
Our SolarMate solar-powered lighting kits are ideal for
garden sheds, garages, stables and summer houses. They
feature super bright energy saving bulbs, each providing
brightness equivalent to a 40 watt standard bulb, and
will illuminate a 4m x 4m room. The solar panels are of
the high power crystalline type, which give outstanding
performance in all British weather conditions. The Solar
Mate lighting kits are supplied complete with panel, bulb,
bulb holder, switch, cable, and roof/wall mounting kit.
The product is supplied with a 10 year warranty excluding
the bulb, which has a 3000 hour life expectancy (and can
be purchased at any highstreet DIY shop). The kit is quickly
and easily assembled with just basic DIY skills required.
The kit will require the additional purchase of a 12 volt
lead acid car battery, and the amp hour (Ah) rating of
the battery will determine how many hours worth of light
the product will provide when used.
Part P of the new building Regulations introduced in the

Solar

SolarMate Solar Panels There are several different
methods of harnessing the sun’s energy with Solar panels.
Our panels are based on the finest crystalline silicon
technology, which is more efficient than amorphous or
other thin film technologies, particularly in low light
conditions. This makes it the best choice for our cloudier
climate! While the UK does not experience extreme weather
very often, our panels are specially designed for use
in harsh environmental conditions so you will never need
to worry about storm damage. The individual solar cells
are laminated onto a multi-layer back sheet to protect
against moisture ingress and ensure UV stability and electrical
insulation. The cell base is encapsulated onto strengthened
water white low iron tempered glass and mounted into a
corrosion-resistant, heavy-duty anodised aluminium frame
for stability.
