Nearly 200 years ago, before the invention of the composition
billiard ball, Jaques craftsmen were making hundreds of
sets of balls each year from African elephant ivory. Turning
100% spherical balls by hand is indeed a great skill! Nowadays,
snooker and pool have become very much more popular than
billiards, and consequently Jaques have turned their skills
to the manufacture of superb snooker and pool tables, from
the Corniche and Londoner slate bed models to the popular
Maestro. Modern manufacturing techniques, such as thermal
bonding, are now used, but still the standard of craftsmanship
mirrors that of the past. Jaques pool and snooker table
prices may not be the lowest, but their stated aim of making
the best English quality is not one they very often fail
to reach.

All Jaques
tables except the slate bed models are constructed with
truplay composite beds specially made to avoid warping and
are additionally reinforced with a box steel subframe for
additional strength. Good quality English wool or wool blend
cloth is fitted to all our Jaques snooker tables and they
also include unique contoured elastic cushions.
