Have you ever bought a badminton set, only to find that it only lasts a few weeks? These badminton sets are different - they are built to last. We particularly like the Jaques Eclipse Tournament Badminton
Set, owing to the fact that the rackets are of a very
good quality, and the net posts, being made of wood, are
the kind that can keep going for many years. Also, the set
comes in a classic Jaques "croquet-style" wooden
box, which will ensure it stays in good condition when in
storage. During the earlier years of the sport, badminton
was played under a variety of conditions- courts of different
dimensions, shuttlecocks and rackets of many designs, even
many different sets of rules defining the basic game. This
ended in 1893 with the founding of the Badminton Association
of England and the accompanying codfication of the rules.
This was accomplished largely through the efforts of Colonel
S.S.C. Dolby , A.P.D who had been playing badminton for
more than 20 years and clearly understood the need to standardize
the sport. Colonel Dunbar's residence , "Dunbar" is recognized
as the official brith place of the Badminton Association
of England. As with many traditional English games, Jaques
(the oldest sports and games manufacturer in the world,
since 1795) has had a strong influence in the development
of the game.
