Cedar has been used for many
years in inclement climates for construction and in the
garden industry due to its longevity, stability and strength.
Cedar is a wonderful timber for greenhouses because it
does not easily warp or bend being straight grained and
because the timber contains natural preservatives this
ensures a long life. All the cedar we use is sourced from
certified or sustainable forests. Cedar greenhouses have
the added benefit of being warmer in the winter and cooler
in the summer which makes for a better for your plants.
Wooden greenhouses have many practical advantages - for
example it is easy to fix hooks, screws and wires to the
greenhouse framework for training plants fitting insulation
or shading. The wonderful aroma of a cedar greenhouse
not only makes it a joy to use but is a deterrent to pests
and the oily properties of cedar help to reducing the
occurrence of plant disease in the greenhouse.
Installation
This greenhouse is designed to be assembled by you. Since
a large proportion of our greenhouses come in panels it
is much simpler to erect than cheaper alternatives. We
send comprehensive instructions, which are easy to follow.
We do offer an
optional Installation Service (just
tick the appropriate tickbox above before adding the greenhouse
to you cart.
Glass
All of our greenhouses come glazed in toughened safety
glass as standard. Each glass panel is a full length pane
with no ugly overlapping panes of the glass like on cheaper
models.
Fixings
The fittings used in the greenhouse are a combination
of solid brass and stainless steel, both being suitable
for use with Western Red Cedar due to their resistance
to corrosion by the timber itself and extreme weather
conditions. The door runner is manufactured from green
powder coated aluminium to aid smooth running of the greenhouse
door. The greenhouses also come complete with high capacity
green powder coated aluminium gutters and downpipes. The
down pipes are 40mm making them compatible with standard
rainwater fittings enabling you to easily harvest rain
water into your water butts.
Ventilation
The 6x8 greenhouse comes complete with two roof
vents and
two side wall vents as standard, this creates excellent
air circulation within your greenhouse which helps prevent
damping off disease. You can order an extra louvered vent(s)
for this model if more ventilation is required.
Optional Extras
You can add optional extras by ticking any of the boxes
above before adding the product to your cart. The metal
base is not obligatory, but does aid construction. One
of the best accessories to install, especially in smaller
greenhouses, is the automated roof vent openers which
operate via a wax filled cylinder that opens the vent
when it heats up and closes the vent when it cools down.
Cedar staging and shelving can be fitted to either or
both sides of your greenhouse. The blinds run from the
top ridge of the greenhouse down to the side. One set
of blinds is sufficient to shade one complete side of
the greenhouse. An additional set of blinds can be purchased
for the opposite side of the greenhouse, however, if you
have shelves or staging on that side, you will not be
able to pull the blind fully down.

days, although there are times of the year when this may
extend slightly. Once you have made your order you will
